The first part of this blog was about brevity and I wasn’t sure what it was going to say that I couldn’t have guessed on my own. The portion that I did not know was that people read a 25% slower on the computer screen. I think that the idea of breaking up a longer article into sections is a good idea so people can enter the article or video where they want and it’s easy to find.

The second part is definitely very informative for today’s working journalists. Being able to adapt to all the different fields of media is really important for job searching. You will have better chances if your knowledge is broader. I didn’t find the section of making the content adaptable easy to understand. I think he is saying that the content has to be able to work with the internet as well as the reader. Making your content easier to view for the reader makes it easier to understand through that media.

Part three really hit home for me. I don’t think I have ever gone to a website without scanning for the specific thing I’m looking for. I think this section made it clear that headings and subheadings are more than okay, if not a better way to set up your content on a webpage.

In today’s society, everyone wants the fastest and easiest access to everything in their life. Through interactivity the journalist can give the reader control. Networking is a big part of life. Making it convenient for teachers to get ahold students material through email, or a boss being able to get their employees work through a download makes media an important and growing development.

I think that community and conversation could go hand-in-hand. Having one is hard to have with out the other. Basically its just being noted that community is most definitely important for journalists to know what’s going on. Paying attention to the conversation throughout the community is a strong point in getting useful information.
